Afternoon Meditation & Silent Meditation, New Jersey.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2015, Wat Phra Dhammakaya New Jersey organized their weekly meditation for locals. The training runs every Saturday afternoon.  On the 2nd and 4th Saturday evening of each month long meditation sessions are held.

The program started with a 15-minute relaxation exercise and then the teaching monk gave a Dhamma talk titled “”Why meditate in a group?”” and “The benefits of group meditation.” Afterwards, everyone meditated together for 50 minutes.

On this day, Mr. Erik, who came to the temple for the first time, said that he had so many questions in his mind and thought to himself that after the meditation he would ask the teaching monk all these questions. Nevertheless, after the meditation ended, all his questions disappeared as if it had been answered by his own meditation. The teaching monk gave an explanation that in the past, the Lord Buddha was also born as a human being like us, but after ordination and prolonged meditation, he then realized that all the knowledge was within ourselves. Therefore, we should earnestly carry on practicing meditation and then we will gain knowledge endlessly.

In the evening ameditation session was organized for the locals, which lasted 3 hours (on 2nd occasion). The program attracted more local residents than before and was well attended by five locals.
