Peace Lantern Festival, New Jersey

Dhammakaya International Meditation Center of New Jersey (D.I.M.C.N.J) cooperated with Buddhist Council of New York to arrange the Meditation NYC and Peace Lantern Festival at Gantry Plaza Park, Long Island, USA from 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm on September 16, 2017.  There were representatives of Buddhist organizations – Zen, Theravada, Mahayana sects – who teach meditation in New York and joined this festival to introduce meditation and the basic tenets of Buddhism.

They also introduced Walking Meditation to show that everyone can meditate in different activities – sitting, laying down, standing or walking.  The Peace Lantern Festival by various religious organizations – Buddhist, Christ, Islamic, Hindi – was held from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.  They prayed together for World Peace because the United Nations had announced that this month is the month of Culture of Peace.

The representatives of the Organization of Peace said that studying and understanding peace should be done sincechildhood, this will allow children to grow up to be adults who love to create World Peace by living peacefully together.

Finally, they floated lanterns together.  They wrote and foldedpaper to be placed into the lanterns that were then brought to float at the waterside.  Everybody was joyful and impressed with these activities. This world peace light will inspire thousands of people in New York who see to turn their dreams of peace to action.
