Meditation Class for Locals// August 28, 2016– Dhammakaya Meditation Center, Scotland

On Sunday, August 28th, 2016 the Dhammakaya Meditation Center, Scotland hosted the meditation class at 16-17.30pm where there were 22 attendees. The event started with some stretching exercises led by the locals, the aim of this is to relax the body. Then everybody joined in and lit the candles to commemorate the Venerable Dhammajayo, for his Victory Day of attaining Dhammakya. The candles were placed in front of the ceremonial area. Then the instructor monk discussed fundamental techniques for meditation, and everybody meditated together. After meditation, the instructor monk discussed basic Buddhist principles: generosity is a source to wealth, adhering to the percepts makes one attain proportionate and attractive body, and meditation makes one intelligent. He also mentioned the 10 types of objects that could be offered to venerable monks: grain, water, methods of transportation, flowers, etc. The instructor monk also invited locals to offer alms together. This received great interest and many joined in with the activity.
