Meditation Class// April 19, 2016– YWCA Downtown Vancouver, Canada

On Tuesday April 19th, 2016, Ms. Pimchanok and the Saisamorn Family invited the Abbot of Seattle Meditation Center (S.M.C.) Phrakhrubhavanavides to teach meditation at YWCA in Downtown Vancouver, Canada.

Meditation Class, Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver is crowded but there are some quiet places that are suitable for meditation.  People from different occupations attended in this class.  The teaching monk taught the principles of meditation and the benefits of meditation.  In addition, he introduced the 7 bases of mind and the importance of the 7th base, which is located at the center of the body. This base is the entrance to inner light, peace and bodies.  He also suggested the participants to visualize a bright sphere and repeat the mantra “Samma Arahang”. He added that the human’s mind is always wandering so the mind should place it at the center of the body to be still. Only the refined mind can enter the center of the body.  The easy steps to meditation included– first, placing hands and sit in the comfortable posture.  Then, keep the mind calm, standstill, and comfortable.  Try to keep it at the center of the body all the time.  Lastly, the teaching monk told the participants to score their meditation experience with the maximum of 10.  Most of them gave it 8 – 9 scores.

This is the 9th time this meditation class is organized.  People who have joined this class before are interested to attend it continuously. The newcomers asked the teaching monk many questions and were all satisfied with the answers that they received from the teaching monk. The teaching monk suggested them meditate at home by simply closing their eyes while they are sitting and open the eyes while they are doing something else.  This meditation class was successful and everyone left feeling happy and recharged.
