Kim Byeong Je, A Grateful Son

Dhammakayapost01

My name is Byeong-Je from South Korea and my Thai name is Narit. I’m 29 years old and I graduated from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul in February 2014

I came to Thailand in April and now I’m staying in IBTC or International Buddhist Monks Training Center, to prepare the ordination while participating to the morning and evening chanting, meditating, offering food to the monks, planting trees, sweeping walking road and also studying Thai language. I first became interested in Theravada Buddhism in 2007 thanks to my father who taught me how to meditate.

My father and I were living separately for a long time. We could rarely meet each other before 2007. But when he taught me the meditation, I slowly understood about his life and his decision. Thus, last year I went to Myanmar with him for a month staying in the temple of his origin where I decided to walk the same path than his. After that I waited almost a year to see if my mind changes or not and also he wanted me to finish my studies. I came to Thailand by his suggestion and I want the merit of ordination went to my mother who passed away 3 years ago.

I don’t know what will happen in the future but I would like to follow my father to whom I owe 2 lives which means first he gave me the birth and second he showed me the Buddhism by himself. And this is my first ordination and perhaps the last one.
