The learning of Buddhist culture for primary school students in England

On 27 March 2026, Venerable Phrakhrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, director of Communication Department, Wat Phra Dhammakaya related that 75 students from Burhill Primary School in London participated in the activities of Buddhist culture at Wat Phra Dhammakaya London.

These activities were organized for students to learn about the Buddhism principles and the Buddhist life style through the workshop by starting from “Paying respect to the monks”, followed by “The observation of 5 precepts” or the basic good deed of living one’s life. Then the students joined the almsgiving to the monks to cultivate the habit of giving or sharing, which is the merit making for the Buddhists. They also took a temple tour to learn about the venue and monastic utensils of Buddhist monks for the better understanding of monks’ life style, such as monk robe and alms bowl.

An important activity that they should not miss was the meditation practice, led by a meditation guide in order that students can learn how to attain inner peace for their mental development. The learning is not limited only in the classroom but can be done through the workshop activities by focusing on actual experiences and open mindset towards different cultures.
