The almsgiving to over 10,000 monks in Nakhon Si Thammarat & Nokhon Ratchasima provinces

There are 2 almsgiving ceremonies to over 10,000 monks in Nakhon Si Thammarat & Nokhon Ratchasima provinces.

On 28 February 2026, at Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Most Venerable Phrathepsiriwachiravethee, ecclesiastical chief of Region 16, was the monastic chairman and Nakhon Si Thammarat Governor Somchai Leelahnoi was the laypeople chairman for the almsgiving to 11,250 monks to celebrate the 1,250th anniversary of the Sri Dhammaraj Chedi, a World Heritage site. The monks from across 14 southern provinces jointly took part to receive the alms from laypeople.

On 8 March 2026, at Thao Suranari (Ya Mo) Monument, Nokhon Ratchasima province, Most Venerable Phrapromsitthi, committee member of Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, ecclesiastical chief of Region 11 and abbot of Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan, presided over the almsgiving to 10,000 monks and Vice Governor of Nokhon Ratchasima province Vijit Kijvirat was the laypeople chairman. This alms offering was organized for the purpose of celebrating the 558th foundation anniversary of Nokhon Ratchasima province and dedicate merit to the former Thai kings and ancestors, including the King Rama IX and the Queen Mother Sirikit.

Such large-scale almsgiving ceremonies are rarely seen at present because inviting 10,000 monks from hundreds of temples is hardly possible. However, these events can be organized with the collaboration network of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Dhammakaya Foundation, Bavorn (Home-Temple-School) network and government and private sectors.
