Kathin robe offering of Wat Phra Dhammakaya as public assistance for India

On 20 November 2024, Venerable Phrakhrusanitwong Wuttiwangso, director of Communication Department, Wat Phra Dhammakaya related that during the period  of Kathin robe offering, Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Dhammakaya Foundation and their devotees has continuously offered Kathin robe to 30,000 temples across Thailand and more than 500 Buddhist temples in 21 foreign countries including over 50 temples in 5 states of India (the states of Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal).

The monetary donation, received from Kathin ceremony, will support the construction and maintenance of monastic accommodation & places and the temples’ expenses. Venerable Pornchai Palawadhammo, the chairman of World Buddhist Organizational Networking clarified that certain indian temples used this donated sum for building hospitals, feeding orphans and supporting the education of novices.

Santiniketan Temple spent the sum of monetary donation on building community hospital at Santiniketan Temple & Santiniketan Ambedga Buddhist welfare mission on 9 November 2024. “Thank you to Luang Por Dhammajayo and his devotees to host the Kathin ceremony and this monetary donation will support the construction of community hospital for the monks and local residents. May Luang Por Dhammajayo get very healthy and I wish that all of you will come back to host Kathin ceremony again next year.”, said Venerable Binaysree Maha Thero, the abbot of Santiniketan Temple. This temple has continuously organized the activities to propagate Buddhism for 40 years.
