Just as the Buddha’s utterance of the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta had changed the world, chanting his first sermon can change your world.
The Dhammakaya Temple would like to invite Buddhists in Thailand and around the world to join us in chanting the Buddha’s first sermon for one billion rounds – as an offering to Buddhas and a blessing for ourselves and the world.

Translated in English as the Discourse that Sets Turning the Wheel of Truth,
the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta   was the sermon that helped ascetic Koṇḍhañña become the Buddha’s first enlightened disciple, resulting in the birth of Buddhism.

From Bangkok to Berlin, from Tokyo to Taipei, from Seoul to Sydney, and many other cities across the world, our participants chant the sutta alone at home and sometimes in groups with friends and families, at their local temples or meditation centers. Some have come to join mass chanting in front of the Dhammakaya Cetiya

Why the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta?

[ux_image id=”8771″]

The Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta  is said to be the only chanting verse that all the three major Buddhist sects (Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayāna) have in common, and is chanted either in Pali or Sanskrit.

[ux_image id=”8772″]

It is this sutta that the 84,000 units of the Buddha’s teachings are based upon. It is the one and only discourse that all Buddhas delivered in common. Having the power to soothe, calm and purify the mind, it primes the chanter’s mind for meditation. The collective peaceful energy from chanters all over the world has the power to evoke peace and heal the wounded world.
