The Morning Alms Round to 986 Monks and Novices

Vesak Day in this year is on May 24th, 2013.  It is an important day of the world.  Office of National Buddhism arranged the Morning Alms Round to 986 monks and novices at the court around the statue of Phrasrisakkayatossaphonyan, the Main Buddha statue of Buddhamonthon in Nakhon Pathom province.

The Most Ven. Phradhampariyativedi, the 15th Ecclesiastical Regional Governor and abbot of Pathom Cetiya Temple, was the Monastic President and Mr. Nopparat Benjawatananun, Director General of Office of National Buddhism and Acting the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, was the Laity President.  In addition, Mr. Wanchai Wanchana, the Provincial Governor of Nakhon Pathom, Mr. Amnaj Buasiri, Deputy Director General of Office of National Buddhism, officers and officials from many institutes, and Buddhists participated in this ceremony.

H.E. King Bhumibol assigned Mr. Ampol Senanarong, Privy Councilor, to be His Representative to circumambulate and offer the picked–up robe set since Vesak Day at 4:00 p.m.  After that, the Most Ven. Somdej Phramaharatchamangkalacharn, Acting Supreme Patriarch of Thailand and abbot of Paknam Bhasicharoen Temple, gave a sermon.
