Dhammachai Day 2022

Guinness World Records presents three GWR certificates and 10,000 monks from all over the world chant together through Zoom on Dhammachai Day.

On 27 August, 2022, Venerable Phrakrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, Director of the Communication Department, Wat Phra Dhammakaya, stated that the Most Venerable Luangpor Dhammajayo was ordained on 27 August 1969. Thus, all devotees observe Dhammachai Day on 27 August of each year and 2022 turns to his 53th ordination year. Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized the Presentation Ceremony of the three Guinness World Records Certificates at the Dhammakaya Assembly Hall in the morning. This event was held in strict accordance with the Ministry of Public Health’s COVID Free Setting guidelines.

In the afternoon was this year’s first robe-offering ceremony in support of Kathina and the evening ceremony was the lantern lighting by using LED candles to display dazzling images, followed by the chanting on Zoom by 10,000 monks from all over the world, a celebratory ceremony for completing 4,654,545,454 rounds of Dhammacakka recited and paying homage to the Maha Dhammakaya Cetiya and the Great Masters. The Buddhists from around the world could participate in these events online through Zoom or GBN channel.

“As for the Ceremony of Guinness World Records Certificate Presentation, Ms. Fumika Fujibuchi, an adjudicator, joins the ceremony to present the three Guinness World Records certificates for the record titles of 1) The Largest Online Photo Album of People Meditating 2) The Largest Quartz Sphere and 3) The Largest Rose Quartz Ball. The Dhammakaya Foundation achieved these GWR attempts in order to emphasize the importance of meditation and the visualization of sphere during meditation like the Dhamma sphere within and the inner peace will lead to the outer peace,” said Ven. Sanitwong Wuttiwangso.

“Wat Phra Dhammakaya and Dhammakaya Foundation have earlier received 5 Guinness World Records certificates as identified below;
2012: The longest journey walking on flower petals (by 1,127 monks during 2–25 January 2012, with a total distance of 427.8 km)
2013: The longest journey walking on flower petals (by 1,128 monks during 2–27 January 2013, with a total distance of 448.4 km
2014: The longest journey walking on flower petals (by 1,129 monks during 2–28 January 2014, with a total distance of 453.0 km
2015: The longest journey walking on flower petals (by 1,130 monks during 2–31 January 2015, with a total distance of 485.0 km) and
2021: Largest flaming image using candles”, added Ven. Sanitwong Wuttiwangso.

Quartz (SiO2) is a hard, crystalline mineral which has various clear or dim colors. It may be either opaque or transparent. Quartz is the second most abundant mineral found in the world after feldspar.
