World Meditation Day 2022

 

Somdej Phra Mahatheerajarn presides the congratulatory ceremony for graduates of the 9th Pali study level and presents plaques and scholarships to the outstanding Pali schools across the country on World Meditation Day at Wat Phra Dhammakaya.

On 7 August 2022, at Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Somdej Phra Mahatheerajarn, a member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, the Abbot of Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram and the Chairman of Public Welfare Committee under the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, was the presiding monk of the congratulatory ceremony for 116 graduates, achieving the 9th Pali study level for the 34th year (including those who attained the 9th Pali study level during 2021 – 2022).  4 graduates were awarded “Maneesawetphat” white shawl (used by lay woman to wrap over one shoulder around her chest and back) while plaques and scholarships at the total amount of 5,220,000 baht were offered to outstanding Pali schools (during 2021 – 2022) throughout the country for the 18th year. The great number of Sangharaja, representatives from Pali schools and the lay people joined the ceremony and followed the universal prevention measures against COVID-19.

Later, Luang Por Dattajivo, the presiding monk, led the necessity offering ceremony to over 2,000 temples across the country for the 22nd year, the 159th necessity offering to 323 temples in the four southern provinces (Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and 4 districts in Songkhla province) for the 18th consecutive year, and the 124th scholarship presentation ceremony  for teachers in the four southern provinces for its 15th year.

Venerable Phrakrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, Director of the Communication Department, Wat Phra Dhammakaya stated that the graduates who attained the level 9 of Pali study or the highest level achievement, required the great patience and effort, thus they deserved the award and compliment as the heroes of Dhamma troop. The Pali language has been used to preserve the Buddha’s teachings. Dhammakaya Foundation and Wat Phra Dhammakaya continuously organized the 34th congratulatory ceremony for graduates of Pali study level 9 and awarded plaques and scholarships to outstanding Pali schools.

Venerable Phrakrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso stated that the Covid-19 pandemic, lasting during 3 years had effects on the Sangha community and temples across the country. Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized the necessity offering ceremony to over 2,000 temples throughout the country for the 22nd year, the 159th necessity offering to 323 temples in the 4 southern provinces for its 18th  year and the scholarship presentation ceremony for teachers in the 4 southern provinces in order to promote their morale to perform duty in unrest areas.  These activities brought about the big merit accumulation for world peace on World Meditation Day.
