World Meditation Day at Wat Phra Dhammakaya

Venerable Sanitworng Wuttiwangso, Director of the Communications Department of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, stated that the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) had declared the 6th August Annual World Meditation Day. This year, Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized a meritorious ceremony on Sunday, 2nd August 2015. The campaign the temple was promoting this year was “World Peace through Inner Peace” which is open to all nationalities and faiths to participate.

The activities started with morning chanting and meditation which were held at the same time as the 130 branches of Wat Phra Dhammakaya. Live broadcasting on Dhammakaya Media Channel (DMC) was available at different times according to the world clock; Thailand 09.30 a.m., Australia 12.30 p.m., Japan 11.30 a.m., China Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore 10.30 a.m.; Bahrain 06.30 a.m., Germany, Switzerland and France 03.30 a.m.; and USA including Boston, New York, Florida, Washington DC at 09.30 p.m., Chicago 07.30 p.m., and Los Angeles 06.30 p.m., etc.

His Holiness Phra Visudhiwongsajahn, board of Sangha Community, Chief Superintendent of the Northern Ecclesiastical Supra-Region was presiding over the afternoon ceremonies. These included the Congratulatory Ceremony to honor 49 venerable monks who have achieved Level 9 in Pali exams on the 28th anniversary, the Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony to present honorary plaques and scholarships to outstanding Pali schools throughout Thailand, the Offerings Ceremony to the Sangha Community from the four southern provinces of Thailand, and the Offerings Ceremony to the Sangha Community from 323 temples in the four southern provinces of Thailand on the 115th occasion in its 11th year. This followed by the Funds-Giving Ceremony to offer financial support to teachers from those areas
on the 79th occasion in its 8th year.
