Over the last week, the Parliament of United Kingdom had been holding an annual festival, UK Parliament Week, to encourage young people and organizations across the country to get involved with their democratic system and institutions.
On Thursday 16 November 2017, Wat Phra Dhammakaya, under the of Dhammakaya International Society of the United Kingdom, got involved in the special week by running a public event to discuss how the UK Parliament and Buddhism uphold similar principles for good citizenship.
Besides the discussion about the UK Parliament’s duties, Venerable Sunder got a chance to illustrate how the five principles of Universal Goodness and meditation practice can help to create good citizens.
The event was joined by the representative of Parliament, Mr. Jonathan Lord. He agreed that the principles and the practice of meditation are useful to people in the community, especially to all staff in the Parliament.
It was a fantastic opportunity for Wat Phra Dhammakaya as well as all representatives of parliament to be able to engage in the discussion that advocates everyone to build a better community.
