Wat Phra Dhammakaya Thailand held a ceremony offering food to 10,000 temple monks on the World Protection Day
On the day of 22 April, Wat Phra Dhammakaya celebrated Earth Day and Luang Por Dhammajayo’s 80th birthday by offering food to 10,000 temples across the country and temple monks in four southern border provinces. The purpose of the event is to bring Buddhists from all over the world together to perform offering, keeping precepts, meditation, purifying our actions, speech, and mind, having compassion, and do not harm others, in order to achieve true world peace and tranquility.
The World Protection Day is celebrated every year on April 22 to encourage people to work together to protect the planet. In Buddhism, the Dharma is used to protect the earth, so this day is also called “World Protection Day”(Earth Day), and its slogan is “Clean The World, Clean The Mind”, which means “clean the world, clean the mind”, because the most precious resource and environment of mankind is the mind, which should be protected and kept clean and pure. That is why Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized the event. Because of your great monks’ compassion, you personally came to the ceremony site and served as the ‘field of Merits’ to the public, and we jointly provided for tens of thousands of monasteries across the country, and everyone was very happy. In addition, this encourages the four groups of Buddhists to promote the Dharma, benefit all sentient beings, and purify people’s hearts, thus achieving true world peace.”
