On 30 March 2024, Venerable Phrakhrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, director of Communication Department, Wat Phra Dhammakaya stated that Wat Phra Dhammakaya Newcastle in England is the center of Buddhism propagation and meditation training in Europe and offers an opportunity for locals and Thais to learn the basic meditation practice.
At present, the temple has regularly organized a meditation program on weekends in order to promote meditation practice and preaching for locals and Thais. The chapel was previously renovated from a Christian church to accommodate the Buddhist activities. Its teachings focus on the simple meditation technique which is easy to learn regardless of race and culture and based on the principles : “Mind stilling is the key to success.”, “Slow down one’s life.” and “Live in the present moment.”
In addition to its role of Buddhism propagation, the temple is the center of cultural exchange for the locals through religious activities, Buddhist culture and meditation practice for the mindful living.
