
On 22 March 2025, Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Dhammakaya Foundation and Buddhists throughout the world jointly organized 175th necessity offering ceremony to 323 southern temples in order to dedicate its merit to the deceased due to the insurgency in the four southern provinces of Thailand (Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and 4 districts of Songkhla). Additionally, there was the 139th presentation of 66 scholarships to teachers in the South. Most Venerable Phrathepwachirasutaporn, the provincial ecclesiastical chief of Songkhla was monastic chairman and Bangklam District Chief Chairat Suksomkid, as representative of Songkhla provincial governor, was laypeople chairman at Southern Meditation Center, Bangklam district, Songkhla province. This event was attended online by laypeople within and outside Thailand via www.zoom.com ,www.gbnus.com.
The necessity offering ceremony to 323 southern temples was first organized on 7 June 2005 at Mujarintawapi Vihara Temple in Pattani province. This offering marks its 175th time of 21st consecutive year that this event has been held. This event will continue to be organized until peace is restored in that region. This year also marks the 18th year and 139th time that scholarships have been presented to teachers in the South and over 41,014 scholarships have been awarded to them. Moreover, over 6,000 tons of dry food, gained from the alms offering to the monks throughout Thailand, has been handed out to local residents, soldiers, police and teachers in unrest areas of the 4 southern provinces.
