This past June, Most Venerable Phraprommethi-spokeperson and committee member of the Sangha Supreme Council and abbot of Wat Samphanthawongsaram Woraviharn-kindly presided over the ceremony to drive the initial foundation pile to officially establish the future location of Wat Phra Dhammakaya Singapore.
At 9 a.m. local time, Most Venerable Phraprommethi and the monastic assembly arrived at the ceremonial ground, and the auspicious ceremony commenced with meditation, the spreading of loving-kindness, and making earnest wishes. Then the presiding monk made auspicious markings and sprinkled precious stones onto the foundation stone, and placed gold leaf on the foundation pile. Afterwards every monk took turn scattering precious stones and placing gold leaves on the foundation pile. This was followed by the distinguished guests.
Then the representatives from the Parliament of Singapore and the Thai Embassy, along with the lay-president of the ceremony and guests sprinkled precious stones onto the foundation stone.
After that everyone took part in the ceremony to drive the initial foundation pile into the ground to establish the new location of Wat Phra Dhammakaya Singapore, a temple founded in Singapore 16 years ago. With the growing interest in meditation seen each year in Singapore and the positive changes and increased level of happiness expressed by those who practice meditation, Wat Phra Dhammakaya Singapore saw the need to expand their facility in order to accomodate the increasing number of people wishing to learn about Buddhism, meditation, and the teachings of the Lord Buddha.
