The ceremony started from welcoming over 200 international monks with a parade of flowers and flags, and was kindly presided by the Most Venerable Phrathepmongkolvites, the head of the monastic assembly of Wat Thai Los Angeles.
And then, the monks from each Buddhist sect chanted to pay homage to the Triple Gem before more than 500 laypeople from Thailand, America, Laos, Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka and Cambodia offered alms to the monastic assembly.
Then, the Most Venerable Phravitesbhavanajarn, the abbot of Dhammakaya Int’l Meditation Center led the meditation session, and was followed by the ceremonies of circumambulation and Vesak candle lighting.
Besides that, today’s highlight also included spreading loving-kindness to the earthquake victims in Nepal and disaster victims worldwide. Everybody was extremely delighted about the merits they made at this Vesak night.
