Ven. Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, Director of the Communications Department of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, indicated that each year the United Nations declared the 6th August as World Meditation Day. Therefore, this year, Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized a meritorious ceremony accordingly on 3rd August.
The campaign we promote this year was “World Peace through Inner Peace” to practice meditation in the same time all around the world, and also included the ceremony to offer Pali Scholarship to 158 outstanding temples for well-organized of Pali study and the Offerings Ceremony to the Sangha Community from more than 3,000 temples throughout Thailand.
Ven. Sanitwong also mentioned that Phrathepyanmahamuni (Luang Por Dhammajayo); the abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya and president of the Dhammakaya Foundation, has mentioned about World Peace starts from the Inner Peace. Whereas, Pali is the language of peace as the precious teachings of Lord Buddha were collected in Pali. In order to continue this resolution, the meritorious ceremony is organized on World Meditation Day for its 27th anniversary.
Yesterday, Morning ceremony of chanting and meditation participated by 130 branches of Wat Phra Dhammakaya from thirty countries in six continents around the world. Afternoon ceremonies also included congratulatory ceremony to recognize venerable monks who have completed Pali Level 9; ceremony to award honorific plaques and scholarships to outstanding Pali students throughout Thailand. His Holiness Phra Visudhiwongsajahn, Board of Sangha Community, Ecclesiastical Head of Region 7, vice president of the board of committee on Pali examination presiding over this ceremony. Follows by Ceremony to offer an honorific plaque to Phrathepyanmahamuni by Sangha Community from the four Southern Provinces of Thailand; the Offerings Ceremony to the Sangha Community from more than 3,000 temples throughout Thailand and the 323 temples in the four southern provinces of Thailand, Ceremony to offer funds to support teachers from the four Southern Provinces of Thailand.
