
On 12 April 2026, at Wat Buddhasantiwan Dhammachai in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Venerable Sanghanan Mahasatthavee, abbot of Wat Mahapanya Buddhavihan in Nagpur was the monastic chairman and Mr. Sanjay Laxmanrao Patil, a committee member of Indian Buddhist Council was the laypeople chairman for the offering ceremony of monks’ necessities to 135 Indian temples in honor of the 82nd anniversary of Luang Por Dhammajayo. Its merit was dedicated to Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the leader of Buddhism revival in India.
In this event, on behalf of Venerable Phrakhrupaladrattanaveerawat, abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Venerable Phramaha Nopporn Punyachayo, assistant abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, delivered a speech on Luang Por Dhammajayo’s guidelines of Buddhism revival in the birthplace of the Buddha, distributed souvenirs, led the lighting of 1,082 lanterns, gave a speech of Sammodana, led the circumambulation of a sacred place for the laypeople at Wat Buddhasantiwan Dhammachai.
Established according to the intention of Luang Por Dhammajayo, Wat Buddhasantiwan Dhammachai is the first Thai Temple in Maharashtra in order to train international monks for Buddhism revival in their home countries. Located on 12 acres (30 rais) of land in Nagpur and designed as the architecture of local and Thai styles in honor of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the leader of Buddhism revival in India, the temple focuses on cultivating faith in Buddhism among the Indians through the process of ordination, monastic training and monastic discipline study in Thailand and these Indian monks are the religious heirs to propagate Buddhism in India by conducting a training course on precept observation and meditation practice for over 2,000 locals.
