Vesak Day in Mongolia on May 14th, 2014

For Vesak Day this year, each family came together to celebrate this day. This is a rare picture showcasing peace and happiness radiating out from each warm-hearted family. Thus, there is the following slogan: “Buddhist Way, Mongolian Way, Faithful Way, Peaceful Way.”

The main objective for this event was to recall the Lord Buddha’s Great Kindness, which was done through meditation, by lighting ground lanterns and releasing floating lanterns,  and by dedicating merit to one’s deceased relatives.

The Abbot of Dishoring Temple (Dampajo Bhikkhu) as well as other Lamas kindly joined us in chanting for this event and in giving blessings to the visitors.  Afterwards,  Phra Chanwit Varavijjo, the Abbot of the Dhammakaya Meditation Center of Mongolia, led a meditation session in Mongolian. Then, both ground and floating lanterns were lit.  It was such an auspicious and peaceful atmosphere. We would like to share this merit with everyone.
