Edited from the Inner Dream Kindergarten Program broadcasted on DMC
This bright news was directly sent from Khao Kaew Sadej Education Center in Prachinburi province where the bright sources gathered here. The executives and Vice Governors of Educational Service Area from all over the country came here to be trained in the Dream School Dhamma Workshop.
The Dream School was launched in 2004 when H.E. Thaksin Shinawatra was the Prime Minister, under the concepts of developing the remote schools to meet the international standard, developing a dream school per district for making it thrive and cultivate children to be smart and good ones, after that these smart and good ones will turn back to their hometown and continue developing their communities. Today, this project has been operated in 2,628 schools over 921 districts.
Mr. Sermsak Pongpanich, the Deputy Education Minister, said that the Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had given clear educational policies that the government emphasizes on the study quality especially for the students and teachers, provides the modern tools and gives the chance of study evenly to the students. Today, there are many social problems and the solution is developing people to be both good and smart. Last year, we began with the Good School of Sub–district Project. We invited the executives, teachers and residents to evaluate together. They agreed that this is a good project and wanted to keep doing. Moreover, we invited and persuaded teachers to be ordained. As the result, over 100 teachers and 12,000 novices were ordained. The number of ordained ones is about 80% of students in the assessed schools and the HTS activity (or Bavorn in Thai) has been arranging by the cooperation among houses, temples and schools.
The Ministry of Education realized and extended this project by focusing on the dream schools in each district. The executives of all schools were trained by using temples as the morality & Dhamma cultivating place. He also unveiled that in his opinion, the youth development and the preparation for ASEAN must be start from the smallest unit which is the community. Training people to be smart is not difficult, but cultivating people to be good is not easy. This Dhamma workshop was arranged successfully. Training both children and teachers is the duty of the Ministry of Education and the ministry was engrossed in and wants to maximize its benefit. So, the success of this project is depending on the operation and cooperation with all involved sectors and how to develop people best because the goal is to develop people’s mind at the same time of developing the economy and society.
