A well-known hospital in London hosted a meditation event for nurses and doctors to help with concentration and mindfulness by stilling the mind. On Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017, the Dhammakaya Meditation Center of London and local volunteers received invitation to host a meditation class for Mount Alvernia Hospital’s staff in Guildford. The hospital is quite well-known in the area and is privately owned. The teaching monk talked about the usefulness of meditation and how it can be applied into our daily lives.
He explained the methods of meditation by translating a recording of Luang Por’s meditation to the class. He also discussed how to still the mind at the 7th base and the use of the mantra ‘samma arahung’ in parallel with visualizing the crystal ball in the middle of the abdomen.
After the group meditated for over half an hour, they shared their meditation experiences with the class and engaged in a group discussion. The guests witnessed peace from within and invited the Dhammakya Meditation Center and its staff to host another class like this in the future to further their meditation knowledge. It seems that meditation is becoming more common for the locals. Both public and private sectors have begun to realize the importance and the benefits of meditation and are utilizing the practice for their personnel’s training and development. It was an honor for the Dhammakaya Meditation Center London to be able to light peace within for the locals.
