According to the Supreme Patriarch’s kind intention to have all the temples help those affected by COVID-19, during February – December 2020, Wat Phra Dhammakaya and Dhammakaya Foundation, together with their followers, set up food contribution centers and pantries of sharing. They also donated medical equipment including COVID-19 protective equipment to more than 100 temples throughout Thailand; the monastic community in the three southern provinces; Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and various educational institutions; the monastic communities of Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos; 28 hospitals within Thailand and two hospitals in the Republic of China.
Venerable Phrakrusamusanitwong Wuttiwangso, Director of Communication Dept. mentioned “ During the new wave of COVID 19, Wat Phra Dhammakaya hosted the online necessity offering to 55,995 monks at the value of 16,548,600 baht during 22-28 April 2021 and 26 May, 2021 and coordinated with Pathum Thani Monastic Community and Rak-Bavorn and Rak-Sil-Ha clubs of Pathum Thani to offer more than 200,000 items of medical products & equipment, relief supply bags, freshly cooked food, consumer goods and knockdown beds to the field hospitals, local government sectors, monastic community and local people, affected by COVID-19 in Pathum Thani at the value of 14,813,490 baht. Then all subsidies that the temple provided are worth 31.3 million baht.”
