Whatever one has heard or witnessed — upon due verification — should the speaking of it cause demerit to diminish and merit to increase, then such a matter is not only worthy of being spoken, but ought to be spoken all the more readily and freely. For the more it is shared, the more merit shall multiply and abound.
Let this be held as a firm and unwavering principle: whatever causes demerit to diminish and merit to grow — carry it forth without delay, spread it as widely as possible, that merit may continue to increase and multiply in an unbroken succession from one to another.
For example — when one has made merit at one place of virtue or another, bring that account of merit-making and share it in succession with others. When one has witnessed an inspiring example of moral virtue and wholesome conduct, pass it on from one heart to the next. For in so doing — since the telling causes demerit to diminish and merit to increase — such speech is worthy of being carried forward, passed on, and perpetuated without end.
