On Sunday June 26, 2016, the 5th Buddhism subject was lectured at Thai Buddhist Meditation Center. On that day, the teaching monk explained about the monastic concept that “Bhikkhu” is a term used to call a monk. The monk’s lifestyle consists of 4 things, which are:
- The morning alms round
- Performing the Dhutanga (pilgrimage)
- Studying the precepts and Guidelines of monkhood
- Meditation
Not only that, but the teaching monk also taught about the concepts and guidelines for the laypeople. The Four Buddhist Communities consist of Bhikkhu, Bhikkhuni, Upasok, and Upasika. They keep Buddhism so they have to study about the customs; believe in the Law of Karma that “doing good deeds will yield good fruits; doing bad deeds will yield bad fruits,” the principle of giving, observing precepts, and meditation; and often accumulate merit.
