Envy is the condition in which, upon seeing another person fare well, one feels displeased and wishes to see that person’s downfall — unable to bear the sight of another’s good fortune. Such people do exist in this world.
Therefore, my dear ones, do not allow yourselves to become this way — in any matter whatsoever. When you see others fare well, do not envy them; rather, rejoice in their good fortune. And then train and improve yourselves ever further, and accumulate merit ever more abundantly.
