From the moment we are born until we depart from this world, every life is governed by the Law of Karma—summarized simply as: “Good deeds yield good results; evil deeds yield evil results.”
The Law of Karma is an absolute and unwavering rule. Regardless of who we are, we all live under its influence. Whether or not one recognizes this law, it dictates every second of our lives. Ignorance of the law does not grant immunity from its effects, much like fire: whether you know it is hot or not, if you touch it, you will inevitably be burned.
The reflection I wish to share with you is this: we must diligently practice thinking, speaking, and acting well until it becomes our second nature. Without such consistent practice, we are prone to making mistakes—engaging in negative thoughts, speech, or actions that accumulate as “sin” or negative merit within us. Furthermore, once bad habits are formed, they become exceedingly difficult to correct.
