This world operates under the law of kamma — that good deeds bring good results, and evil deeds bring evil results. Since this world is governed by the law of kamma, habit serves as the mechanism that directs one’s kammic actions: good habits direct one toward good kamma, while poor habits direct one toward unwholesome kamma. If we are to reach the heavenly realms and Nibbāna, we must choose to perform only good kamma, and govern our lives through the cultivation of good habits.
