Wat Phra Dhammakaya collaborated with 170 Morality Promotion Centers across Thailand to organize the mass ordination project for 5,000 novices, called “Dhamma Training during Summer Break”. On 4 April 2026, at the Ordination Center of Wat Phra Dhammakaya in Pathum Thani province, the parents of ordinands and laypeople circumambulated Maha Dhammakaya Cetiya, were asked for forgiveness and offered novices’ robe and alms bowl. There were 365 ordinands at this ordination center.
The project of “2026 Mass Ordination for Buddhism Revival across Thailand” was attended by 7,000 applicants from 170 ordination centers and the training session lasts from 23 March – 23 April 2026 (32 training days) at provincial ordination centers throughout Thailand.
Venerable Phrakhrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, director of Communication Department, Wat Phra Dhammakaya stated that this ordination project has the following objectives : 1.To learn the Buddha’s teachings 2. To be trained according to Buddhism principles 3.To cultivate faith and love in Buddhism and the Three Refuges 4. To practice meditation 5.To have the Right View or Samma-Dhiti.
The Novice Ordination Project for Buddhism Revival across Thailand with the concept “Dhamma Training during Summer Break” in 2026 is organized by Wat Phra Dhammakaya and Dhammakaya Foundation with the collaboration of International Buddhist Society, Morality Promotion Center across Thailand, World Alliance of Buddhists, V-PEACE, educational institutions of local administration organizations, the network of government and private sectors and global devotee network of Wat Phra Dhammakaya.
