The Ceremony of Offering Sustenance to the Buddha at Wat Phra Dhammakaya Melbourne

On 5 April 2026, at Wat Phra Dhammakaya Melbourne in Australia, the ceremonies of offering sustenance to the Buddha and paying homage to the Buddha image were held on occasion of New Year Festival for the Asians in South East Asia. These events were attended by both Thais and foreigners amidst the peaceful and faithful vibes.

The morning session started with the chanting and meditation practice, followed by the request of 5 precepts, the food offering to monastic community, the monastic blessing for the auspiciousness of all laypeople and almsgiving to the monks.

Later, the ceremony of offering sustenance to the Buddha was held via the live broadcast of GBN Channel from Thailand and all laypeople paid homage to the Buddha image and relics. The afternoon session was the ceremony of offering monks’ robe to support the purchase of a new building for Wat Buddha Adelaide. In this event, Venerable Phrakhrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, director of Communication Department and assistant abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya delivered a sermon on the topic of “Maintaining the pure mind before/during/after making merit”.

These Buddhist activities helped promote the unity of Thai communities and the Thai Buddhist culture among foreigners.
