Thailand coordinated with Nepal to bring back the Buddha’s teachings to the homeland of the Buddha by the mass ordination of 1,250 novices in 2024 or its 6th year of this event.
The Nepali monastic community and Thai, Indian and Nepali Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus under the patronage of Dhammakaya Foundation organized the mass ordination of 1,250 novices in homage to the Buddha and to revive Buddhism in Nepal during 28 February-21 March 2024. On 9 March 2024, the Most Venerable Phrapromwachirapanyajarn (Pali scholar of level 9), the abbot of Wat Ratchaoros, the head of the 8th Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus group and a board member of Mahachulalongkornrajavidhayala University council was the preceptor for the ordination of 1,250 novices at Mayadevi Temple, Lumbini, Nepal. Most Venerable Phradhamrattanaporn-the advisor of Ecclesiastical Head of Region 1 and the abbot of Wat Khian Khet (a royal temple), Venerable Phra Dhamma Sobhana-President of All Nepal Bhikkhu Sangha Association and Venerable Phraphavanadhamvides-assistant abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya also participated in this event.
