On 16-18 May 2025, at Dhamma Sapha Building, Wat Phra That Luang of Vientiane City in Laos, Most Venerable Phraratvitheswachiravethee, chairman of Dhammakaya Foundation and director of Foreign Affairs Department, together with Venerable Phrkhrusamu Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, director of Communication Department, Venerable Phramaha Surat Akkaratano, associate director of Foreign Affairs Department and section head of AEC and Wat Phra Dhammakaya’s monastic representatives and devotees, joined Abhidhamma chanting and cremation ceremony of His Holiness Phramaha Bounma Simmaphom, president of the Central Buddhist Fellowship Organization of the Lao PDR and abbot of Wat Som-Sa-Ngad, Banfai, Saysetha district. Wat Phra Dhammakaya and Dhammakaya Foundation were the hosts of Abhidhamma chanting on 16 May 2025. There was a cremation ceremony on 17 May 2025, followed by the relic collection ceremony on 18 May 2025.
His Holiness Phramaha Bounma Simmaphom, at the age of 92 and with 72 ordination years, passed away on 17 April 2025 at Wat Som-Sa-Ngad, Banfai, Saysetha district. Wat Phra Dhammakaya and Dhammakaya Foundation would like to express sincere condolence on his passing and appreciate his virtues and contributions to the Buddhism in Laos.
