
On 17 August 2025, Most Venerable Phraratwachirasatsanavithes, president of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe (UTSE) and abbot of Wat Thai Norway, presided over the blessing ceremony for His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother and the 18th/2025 UTSE meeting at Wat Srinagarindravararam, Switzerland. The dhammaduta monks from 125 Thai temples in Europe attended this meeting.
The morning session started with the monastic blessing for His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Then, the opening ceremony of UTSE meeting began with the speech of Thai Supreme Patriarch, given for this meeting that Dhammaduta monks have duty to propagate Buddhism worldwide. Thus, they should always keep in mind that it is required by duty to protect not only their honor but also the virtues of Thai monastic community, Buddhism and Thai nation that should not be disgraced overall. All dhammaduta monks should be careful of all actions, words and thoughts, walk the talk, do their role strictly and control their mind to overcome all sensual craving or the obstacle of celibacy in order to deserve the monkhood.
Later, there was the congratulatory ceremony for dhammaduta monks, promoted as Phrakhrusanyabat and nominated officially as preceptors, the newly nominated abbots and recipients of Buddhist Awards (the monks and laypeople who contribute outstandingly to Buddhism in Europe). Then all laypeople jointly offered lunch to the monastic community.
The afternoon session was the 18th/2025 UTSE meeting, attended by many senior monks; for example, Most Venerable Phraratwachirasatsanavithes, president of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe (UTSE) and abbot of Wat Thai Norway, Most Venerable Phrathepvajarasarabundit, assistant abbot of Wat Mahathatu Yuwaraj Rangsarit and
Vice-Rector for Planning and Development of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and Phra ratchawithetpanyakhun or Chao Khun Laow Panyasiri, president of the Council of Thai Buddhist Monks of The United Kingdom and Ireland (CTBMUK) and abbot of Wat Buddhapadipa in London, England. There were 150 senior monks and dhammaduta monks from 125 temples in Europe, joining this meeting.
