
On 14 September 2025, Most Venerable Phrapromdilok, committee member of Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand and abbot of Wat Sam Phraya, presided over the 181st necessity offering ceremony to 323 southern temples for its 21st year in order to dedicate the merit to the deceased due to the insurgency in the four southern provinces of Thailand (Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and 4 districts of Songkhla). In this event, there was the 144th presentation ceremony of 73 scholarships to teachers in the four southern provinces for its 18th year. Senior Deputy District Chief of Bangklam Wanna Kraidit was laypeople chairperson at Southern Meditation Center, Bangklam district, Songkhla province. This event was also attended online by laypeople within and outside Thailand via www.zoom.com ,www.gbnus.com.
“The gathering of everyone today is the expression of faith in Buddhism and the gratitude to our Thai ancestors who protected the land and Buddhism for their younger generations. With the unity of all laypeople, it will be the power to maintain Buddhism sustainably. Giving is the significant virtue and the Buddha taught that it brought about 3 merit results : 1. Worldly Wealth 2. Celestial Wealth 3. Nirvana Happiness or the freedom from all defilements. Rejoice in the merit of everyone today.“, Most Venerable Phrapromdilok delivered a speech.
Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Dhammakaya Foundation and laypeople across the world organized the first necessity offering ceremony to 323 southern temples on 7 June 2005 at Mujarintawapi Vihara Temple in Pattani province. Its objective is to encourage the monastic communities and Buddhists in the south to protect Buddhism in their area during the insurgency. This necessity offering marks its 181st time of 21st consecutive year that this event has been held. For the scholarship presentation, more than 41,383 scholarships have been awarded to teachers in southern provinces. Until now, over 6,000 tons of dry food, gained from the alms offering to the monks throughout Thailand, has been handed out to local residents, soldiers, police and teachers in unrest areas of the 4 southern provinces.
