Ven. Sanitwong Wuttiwangso, Public Relations Department of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, announces a joint cooperation with Songkhla Community of Monks, Sadao Kalayanamitra Office, Southern Morality Support Association, and Hat Yai Kalayanamitra Center to organize an alms offering ceremony to 1,000 monks at the Municipality Office of Sadao in Songkhla between the hours of 6:30 – 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 31st, 2014. The event will receive the great honor of having Most Ven. Phrakru Pitaknimphakhet, Vice Ecclesiastical Province Governor of Songkhla, Wat Pangla in Pangla Sub-district, Sadao District, Songkhla Province preside over the alms offering ceremony, and Mr. Chalosak Wanichcharoen, Chief of Sadao, as the lay chairman.
The Ceremony to Offer Alms to the Monks from 323 Temples in the Four Southern Provinces of Thailand is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This is the 102nd ceremony held within that past 10 years. This is followed by two additional ceremonies: Dedication of Merit to the Departed Loved One and Offering of 32 Funds in Support of the Teachers in the South. This is the 66th time these events are held in seven years. To this day, over 30,000 funds and more than 60 million baht have been offered.
Wat Phra Dhammakaya and the Dhammakaya Foundation have organized the ceremonies to Offer Alms to Monks from 323 Temples and Dedicate Merit to the Departed since June 7th, 2005. They were first held at Wat Mujjalinthavapi Viharn in Muang District of Pattani Province. The total value of the alms to be offered in the upcoming 102nd ceremony is expected to exceed 200 million baht. These events will continue to be organized every month until peace is restored in that region.
