Office of National Buddhism’s Award

Office of National Buddhism has cooperated with the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) to arrange the project of giving award to those who make benefit to Buddhism called “the 1st World Buddhist Leader Outstanding Award” since the coming Magha Puja Day.

On January 15th, 2014, Office of National Buddhism and the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) had a meeting for preparing the project of the 1st World Buddhist Leader Outstanding Award at the Yellow Meeting Room, Mahasirinart Library Building, Buddha Monthon, Nakhon Pathom province.  Mr. Kanok Saenprasert, the Deputy Director of Office of National Buddhism, was the President of the Meeting.  Dr. Pornchai Pinyapong, WFBY President, and other committee participated in this meeting.
For this project, its objectives are to worship the Lord Buddha and to support the Buddhist activities during the 2014 Magha Puja Day, to encourage and praise those who make benefit to Buddhism in the national and international levels, and to develop the meritorious role models for people and youths.  The target groups are 100 Buddhist leaders, both monks and laypeople in Thailand and oversea, who meet the committee’s selection criteria.  The committee will determine from their works, both quality and quantity, the operation time, and the continuity of arranging the activities which support Buddhism and make profit for the country and Buddhism at least 10 years.  The nominees can be the organizations or the individuals.  For the individuals, there are 6 kinds of nominees which are monk, politician, official & officer, businessman, mass media & artist, and general people who love practicing and spread Dhamma.  The meeting agreed that after they finish the selection, they will unveil in the press conference on February 5th, 2014 at the Buddha Monthon Exhibition Building for public relation later.
