Meditation for Locals — Wat Phra Dhammkaya London, UK

Wat Phra Dhammakaya London arranged Tuesday Meditation Class for Beginners on Tuesday March 27th, 2018.  This class is held every Tuesday for locals to come together to learn and practice meditation.  They would learn how to meditate, how to place their mind at the center of the body.

There are 3 methods to meditate which are

1) visualize a crystal ball or a Buddha Image in the stomach,

2) still their minds softly and visualize nothing, or

3) repeat Mantra “Samma Arahang.”

They meditated together for 45 minutes and then, the teaching monk taught dharma on the topic of Five Hindrances (pañca nīvaraṇāni) that are negative mental states that are obstacles in reaching enlightenment. These states are: 1. sensual desire (kāmacchanda), 2. anger (byāpāda, vyāpāda), 3. boredom (thīna-middha), 4. restlessness, worry (uddhacca-kukkucca), and 5. doubt (vicikicchā).  The teaching monk also gave examples to simplify and suggested the way to overcome these states.

The knowledge on that day was so useful and interested the participants very much so that they want to come back again to study more.
