On Sunday March 27th, 2016, the Japanese Meditation Center was invited by Mr. Anomoto and his family to teach meditation for Japanese in Hamamatsu city, Shizuoka Prefecture. The teaching monk Phra Tissaro gave a lesson on “How to dedicate merit” and played a video of the Thai ceremony of dedicating merits which included chanting, water pouring during the ceremony and focusing their minds to dedicate merit to the dead. The teaching monk also played a video about making and dedicating merit to the Japanese Tsunami victims in Japan on the 1st Anniversary upon which the ground lanterns were lit.
After that the teaching monks introduced the basics of meditation. He led them to meditate twice. The first session lasted 15 minutes and the second session lasted 25 minutes. Then they had a dharma talk about the results of meditation which interested everyone. Most prefered to have a warm-up meditation before the long session. This is so they could adjust their bodies and minds so the inner experience in the last session was easier. They felt comfortable, relaxed and calm.
We rejoice in your merit and share our merit to you all. See you again in Western Shizuoka on Friday April 29th, 2016 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
