International ordination for 117 ordinands at Wat Phra Dhammakaya

At the chapel of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Pathum Thani, Venerable Phrakhrupaladrattanaveerawat, abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, was the preceptor for 117 ordinands from the 9th Mass Ordination of AEC & WAB, the 20th International Mass Ordination in Chinese Version, the 14th Mass Ordination of Novices from International School (Summer Program).

The ordination ceremony started in the morning by circumambulating the chapel, followed by paying homage to the temple boundary marker and the principle Buddha image, the ceremony to beg forgiveness from parents, the monks’ robe offering of parents, the request of the Three Refuges and monastic precepts and the offering of monks’ bowl and basic necessities. The mass ordination program for rains retreat and the international ordination programs of Wat Phra Dhammakaya are organized for participants of all nationalities to learn and follow the principles of Buddhism. These short/long term ordination programs are open for both Thais and foreigners.

There are 4 ordination programs for this ordination ceremony; 1. The Ordination Program for Rains Retreat (30 ordinands)   2. The 9th Mass Ordination of AEC & WAB  (42 ordinands)    3. The 20th International Mass Ordination in Chinese Version (35 ordinands)   4. The 14th Mass Ordination of Novices from International School (Summer Program with 10 ordinands). The 13 nationalities of ordinands from all ordination programs are identified as follows: Thai, Chinese, Laotian, Indian, Sri Lankan, Myanmar, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Nepali, British, Malaysian, Taiwanese and Singaporean.
