International Alms Offering to 10,000 Monks in Hat Yai

This alms-offering ceremony is part of a larger project—2 Million Monks Alms Offering in 77 Provinces Throughout Thailand—which has the objective of reviving the alms-offering practice that thrived during the time of the Buddha. Dried food donated will be sent to the monastic community, soldiers, police, teachers, students and people residing in the four provinces in Southern Thailand.
The event could help bolster morale of the people living in * these four provinces and victims of natural disaster in various parts of Thailand and Southeast Asian countries as well.

*According to the insurgency of four Southern border provinces including Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, and Songkhla, this have caused the danger to the Buddhist monk and also troubled the Buddhist activities, especially, many temples’ the alms collecting activity has to be prohibited and it frightened the local Buddhist’s spirit.

“The Buddhist Monk of 323 temples in four Southern Border Provinces Aid Project” was founded by Phrathepyanmahamuni(Luang Por Dhammajaya) the Abbot of Dhammakaya temple and the President of Dhammakaya Foundation. On behalf of Phrathepyanmahamuni (Luang Por Dhammajaya), Phrabhavanadhammawithet and his delegations of both Kalayanamitra monk society and Kalayanamitra merit leader society monthly give the necessities and food to Buddhist monks and victimized people of insurgency. This project is stepping to the eleventh year and will continue giving the aid till it becomes harmonized peace.
