On May 8, 2016, Wat Bhavana Yangju in South Korea was invited by the Vesak organizing committee to open a booth in regards to Vesak Day. In this event, there were many international Buddhist activity booths and temples’ booths from around South Korea. Wat Bhavana Yangju had a booth that exhibited the activities of spreading Buddhism in Thailand and South Korea. The highlight and popular activity was “Meditation with Dhammakaya knowledge.”
Phra Nukul Dhiravaro พระอาจารย์นุกูล ธีรวโร who is the student of Dongguk ดงกุก University Gyeongju Campus ยองจู and the monks from Wat Bhavana Yangju kindly accepted to be the teaching monks in introducing the basic meditation.
The booth was open during 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and arranged 40 meditation sessions. There were over 100 Korean people participating in this activity. All participants wrote their meditation experiences after the meditation session and expressed that they had good meditation results. Many testimonials showed that they were happy and interested to practice meditate again some more.
Kim Je Hun’s who is a student of Catholic University of Korea said that even though it was a short period of meditation time, he sensed an unexplainable feeling of relaxation and peacefulness.
This activty of opening a botth an teaching meditation to those passing by is as another step of success in spreading Buddhism and Dhammakaya knowledge in South Korea.
