
On 10 July 2025, by 9.30 AM, at Kaew-Sa-Ra-Phad-Nuek 2 Meeting Hall of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, Venerable Phrakhruviboolnitidham, an assistant abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, presided over the ceremony of offering monks’ bathing cloths and lanterns on occasion of Asalha Puja Day and Buddhist Lent. The ceremony started from requesting 5 precepts of laypeople, followed by the monastic chanting, mass meditation, resolution recitation and the offering of monks’ bathing cloths and lanterns. In the evening, the monastic community and all Buddhists circumambulated Maha Dhammakaya Cetiya and jointly recited Dhammacakka Sutta to achieve the target of 7,520,000,000 chanting rounds on Asalha Puja Day.
Asalha Puja Day is on the full moon day of the 8th lunar month and there are many significant events, occurred on that day: (1) the Buddha delivered his first sermon known as the Dhammacakka Sutta; (2) Añña Koṇḍañña attained Sotapanna and became the first disciple of Buddhism; (3) Añña Koṇḍañña asked for ordination from the Buddha after his Sotapanna attainment and became the first monk of Buddhism (4) the Triple Gem: Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha, was first established.
