Alms offering and Candle Lighting Ceremony, Dawai, Myanmar

On Tuesday November 17, 2558 Yingnge Temple cooperated with Wat Phra Dhammakaya to organize an Alms-Offering ceremony to 1,000 Buddhist monks and Novices, with the purpose of paying homage to the Lord Buddha and maintaining the alms-offering tradition.

During the event, participants chanted and meditated together to purify their mind before performing the ceremonies of requesting precepts and offering midday meals to monks as Sangha Dana. Then the congregation offered alms in the Alms Round and offered meals to the monks. The atmosphere was filled with joy and happiness.

In the evening there was the candle lighting ceremony and circumambulation to worship Lord Buddha at Chetongsa Cetiya.  The Ceremony began with chanting to recall the values of the Triple Gem and then purifying their minds through meditation. Then the presiding monks initiated the lighting of the candle, and candles were lit by everyone. Today was an important day for all monks and novices. It was an amazing day that brings great delight to Buddhists. The pictures of every meritorious activity performed by monks and novices that day became historical images that will be engraved in our minds for all eternity.

Yingnge Temple in Myanmar, cooperated with Wat Phra Dhammakaya to arrange the Ordination Ceremony of 330 Novices in Dawei city, Myanmar during November 8th – 22nd, 2015.  This ceremony cultivates the youth in Dawei to help one another prolong Buddhism.  They practice the 5 Universal Goodnesses to be real novices and keep Buddhism alive in Myanmar.
