The morning of Vesak Day started with ceremony of offering alms to more than 2,000 monks and novices to worship Lord Buddha.
In the late morning, people of different ages chanted to recall the values of the Triple Gem and then purified their minds through meditation. Then it began the ceremony of offering the kitchen named 71st year of Phrathepyanmahamuni and was followed by the ceremony of Sanghadana Offering to the monastic assembly.
In the afternoon, it was the ceremony of offering almsbowls and saffron robes to 12 novices who passed different levels of Pali studies and were taking a lifelong ordination, which brought tears of delight to their parents and family members. And after that, the lifelong ordination ceremony was taking place at the chapel of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, and the most venerable Phra Maha Bodhiwongsajarn, the abbot of Wat Orasaramrajworavihara, kindly officiated as their monastic preceptor.
At night, it was the candle lighting ceremony and circumambulation at Dhammakaya Cetiya under the roof of the Great Meditation Stadium to worship Lord Buddha. And the Most Venerable Phrathepyanmahamuni—Luang Por Dhammajayo was the president of the ceremony.
When it was time, Luang Por Dhammajayo led people in reciting words to revere Vesak lanterns. Then, the monastic assembly led laypeople in circumambulation at the Great Meditation Hall while reminding themselves to the favors of Lord Buddha.
Vesak Day is the important day of Lord Buddha. It is an amazing day that brings great delight to Buddhists throughout the entire world and the universe. The pictures of every meritorious activity we do all day long will become historical pictures that will be engraved in our minds for eternity and a day.
