Humankinds have been searching for true happiness but no one has proclaimed to find it. Around 2,600 years ago, after Lord Buddha enlightened under the Bodhi tree, He had attained the truth of human’s life and the truth of the universe. Moreover, He had attained the true happiness, it was the utmost happiness which let Him not reborn again in the cycle of lives.

On‌ ‌this important day during Lord‌ ‌Buddha‌ time, He ‌delivered‌ ‌the‌ ‌“Ovada‌ ‌Patimokkha”‌ ‌sermon‌ ‌which‌ ‌consisted of Ideologies, Principles, and Methods of propagation of Buddhism.

A representative of laypeople lights candles and incense sticks
6:50 p.m. The presiding monk lights a lantern and passes it to a representative of laypeople
Circumambulation around the Great Dhammakaya Cetiya
7:30 p.m. Making resolutions for Magha lantern lighting
Worldwide simultaneous lantern lighting
Making resolutions and extending loving kindness
8:00 p.m. End of the ceremony.

Do’s and Don’ts

for Temple Newcomers

  1. During the ceremonies, Please turn off all electronic communication devices you have brought with you. If you need to have a telephone conversation, please keep it for the meal breaks.
  2. Please refrain from unnecessary conversation during the ceremonies;
  3. Please refrain from standing up to take photographs during ceremonies;
  4. Please don’t point your feet towards the Buddha image, monks or other objects of respect;
  5. Women should refrain from coning into physical contact with the monks or their robes;
  6. Please remove shoes before entering the toilet cubicles;
  7. Please keep any valuables with you at all times. Valuable footwear can be taken into the pavilion in the carrier bags provided. The Temple cannot be responsible for any loss or damage occurring to congregations’ property;
  8. Please refrain from smoking on the temple grounds;
